Unsubstantiated Claims about Walmart

To the Riverwest Currents:

A recent letter to the Currents made some dramatic claims concerning Walmart. None of these claims were accompanied by any evidence, numbers or statistics. Claims without evidence always make me suspicious. The letter writer says “for every two jobs Walmart creates in a community it destroys three.” I’m not saying the letter writer is wrong. I would just like to know how she came to this conclusion. That’s not asking too much. Making claims without evidence is something Madison politicians do all the time. I’m sure the letter writer doesn’t want to be associated with that pathetic crowd. Please enlighten me by presenting the evidence.
