The Gordon Park Splash Pad opened for play on June 15, and every day after that has seen a steady stream of children playing in the cool waters, which are turned on from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The splash pad is child-activated, since the sprinklers turn on when children fit their palms into the hand shape on one of the two poles equipped with sensors.
