Grassroots Dog Park Advocate Group Formed
A second meeting was held October 17th at the Urban Ecology Center for people interested in a volunteer effort to attempt to establish legal off-leash exercise areas for dogs in or near the East Side and Riverwest neighborhoods. There were more than 30 people in attendance and much was accomplished. Committees have been formed to begin research to determine possible sites for both fenced in and non-fenced in areas for dog exercise. The goal of the group is to establish these areas in cooperation with county and city governments so that dog owners will have places to exercise their dogs without the threat of citations and the conflict of encounters with dog-fearing citizens. If you would like to get involved and help this effort by attending meetings and/or volunteering your time, please contact Stacy Conroy at pettales@ameritech.net or leave a message at the Riverwest Currents office (414) 265-7278.
