Fighting Litter
I own several properties in southern Riverwest and live in one of them. As an owner and resident I am reminded daily that Riverwest has to find a way to combat the onslaught of litter. I think it will take a change in our attitude to have any kind of affect. We must take pride in the area we live in. We have a wonderful opportunity to make Riverwest shine as one of the most diverse areas in the state. By saying “we” I mean all residents, owners, renters, and business owners. Throwing trash on others’ lawns as we walk or drive by is unnecessary. There are plenty of dumpsters.
It sickens me to look at someone without remorse throw fast food bags, beer cans etc. down on the lawns and keep on walking or driving. I have found that if you keep your area picked up it is less likely to accumulate litter.
Please! Please! Help Riverwest become a more beautiful place to live, pick up trash when you see it, and better yet when you see someone littering ask them to pick it up and put it in a trash receptacle. There is a meeting Aug 12 at the YMCA CDC at 604 E. Center St. Please come as I would like to form a neighborhood litter watch program.
