Stop The Bike Trails!
Stop the bike trails! I’m against turning the Beer Line railroad right-of-way into another stupid bike trail. You’re going backwards into the pioneer wagon and Indian path days! How can Milwaukee have fast frequent flyer, commuter trains if the railroads are all torn up? Who wants to bust their rear ends off riding a bicycle when they could ride trains to and from Milwaukee?
The Beer Line railroad should be part of a rapid transit system starting at the Amtrak Station, thru 4th Street subway to Juneau Ave and jog over to 3rd Street and Juneau Avenue, and then over the Beer Line railroad right-of-way to the Schlitz Park, North Avenue, Riverwest, etc… A subway station should be built at 4th and State Streets for the sports crowd at the Arena and the Bradley Center.
Milwaukee must have longer range planning to coordinate everything!!!
The Angry Young Man!
Glen Snyder, the fighter!
P.S. I once had written another letter to the Riverwest Currents, and it was rejected, or neglected. This must be remedied as soon as possible.
Publisher’s Note: Bike trails are a lot easier to convert to rail use than condominiums. But don’t hold your breath. Subways would solve many of the land use problems, but I do not see any government official suggesting we put in subways, I only hear some of them telling us we need more freeways.
