Holton Street Article: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

I am writting this letter to thank Riverwest Currents on a great article “Holton Street: Where East meets West” and to say goodbye.

Mark and I have lived at 2323 N Holton St for 4+ years. We are sad to say that March 13th will be our last day living here. We have decided to move out of Milwaukee. Over the past years we have worked very hard to make our house on Holton Street a home, and we did in fact achieve that goal. When we purchased this home she was in bad shape. Our families thought that we were nuts to buy the place. We saw the potential even if it was a boarded up old house with no heat or water at the time.

I feel that this project not only help save the house. But it at the same time saved us too. We worked side by side getting the job done and building a strong relationship at the same time. We have had many challenges here but at the same time we have enjoyed living here. This is where we started our family. William, our 10-year-old son joined our family here, and on our front steps is where we first met his little brother Cole. This has been our home.

Some may say in the past couple years we have gone overboard decorating for the holidays. We wanted people to know that we care for this neighborhood. We had a great time doing it even if the police stopped by on Halloween thinking the place was on fire because of the fog machines. We will miss all of the people that we have gotten to know over the years. We know that there are a lot of people who do care about the neighborhood.
