Opening reception for kathryn e. martin Solo Installation, Milwaukee's most revered installation artist. kathryn's project employs over 2000 (5 per sq. ft.) paper airplanes strategically hovering above a topographic map of Milwaukee. A path through the foam map on the gallery floor will be created to allow viewers closer contact to the work. A limited number of 2-D works detailing kathryn's process will also be shown; thru August 20.

Mimosas will be flowing and the hotcakes sizzling at a
brunch celebrating the grand opening of Hotcakes' brand new Sculpture Garden featuring works created by recent Milwaukee transplant, L. John Andrew. Andrew creates animorphic pieces that comment on the ways natural and manufactured objects are constructed. Specifically, the truss of a bridge, the scales of a fish, or the tiles on a roof become the basis for his metal sculptures. His thoughtful method of construction determines the form and content, and matched with his developed craftsmanship, the pieces are the perfect fit for Hotcakes' sculpture garden. Thru October 31.
