March 16, 2000 - EVA Meeting
Under Issues and Concerns in 2000, the EVA discussed efforts to “protect the area from runaway development.”

July 2000 - EVA Newsletter Article
“Conservation District: What do you like about your neighborhood buildings?”
June 2001 - Special EVA meeting
The EVA newsletter announced a joint presentation, “What Makes A Neighborhood A Special Place?” by EVA, City Historic Preservation Commission and the Alderman’s office, and requested input from the neighborhood for conservation district guidelines.

August 2001 - Ald. D’Amato Mails Survey
A survey was sent to every property owner in the East Village neighborhood asking them to rate the importance of regulating certain architectural features. There were 47 surveys returned.
August 2001-August 2002 Conservation District Committee
The EVA forms a Conservation District Committee to draft the Conservation District Guildelines.

August 2002 - Presentation on Conservation District
The EVA Newsletter announces a presentation on the National Register nomination and the Conservation District.

June 2003 - EVA Newsletter Article
“Conservation District - What is it?”

October 2003 - Newsletter Article

April 23, 2004 - Ald. D’Amato Sends Postcards
Postcards sent to every property owner in EVA asking them to attend a meeting to discuss plans for the East Village Conservation District. Meeting held

April 2004 - EVA Newsletter Article
“Development that Respects History” updates residents on the Conservation District

June 2004 - EVA Newsletter Articles
“Conservation Overlay” reviews the May 11 meeting and encourages people to attend future East Village meetings to revise Conservation District guidelines based on further neighborhood input.
“Maintaining the Village in East Village” recounts the Conservation District process, what it addresses and how it would be implemented.

June 8, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, 2004 - EVA Meetings
EVA holds regular meetings at 7 p.m. at the Tasting Room, 1100 E Kane Pl., on

June 8, 2004; Oct. 12, 2004; and Sept. 14, 2004. The Conservation District is discussed at each meeting and final input is taken.
