Twindominiums...NOT Neighborhood Appropriate
Last April, somehow, some way, “Shoebox Realty,” as they jokingly call themselves, were permitted to build on a small city lot a housing project that is termed a “twindominium.”
An article in the January 2004 Riverwest Currents described this high-priced establishment on Center Street and Humboldt to be aesthetically appropriate to the neighborhood with appealing views for the purchasers. That may be true from the inside out only. The view of this monstrosity is hardly copacetic from the perspective of surrounding neighbors. Having done a verbal survey, NO ONE likes it. Single family homes and duplexes next to and nearby are dwarfed by this “Queen Mary 2” structure.
Take a look for yourselves, especially those who live in the location where another development like this is in the planning (Pierce and Hadley). We need to preserve the aesthetics of our Riverwest community. There is NO ROOM for these money-making ventures.
Readers BEWARE! The “Queen” could be landing in your back yard. That is no joke!
