PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM FAIR, 9AM-NOON
Wis. Educational Opportunities Program is hosting a
precollege fair at Marquette Alumni Union, 2nd Floor.
Colleges from throughout the state offer summer programs
for kids grades 6 through 12. Limited scholarships are
available for minority children and children whose parents
do not have a college education. These are great programs
for exposing your child to different areas of study and to
move them toward setting their goals.

Author Tom Tolan will read "Riverwest: A Community
History," which describes the series of ethnic and social
groups (German aristrocrats, Polish immigrants, black and
Latino residents, artists and the counterculture) that have
built communities in the neighborhood since the mid-19th
century.
Tolan will be joined by Vince Bushell, publisher of
"Riverwest Currents," who will talk about current efforts
to build community in the neighborhood. Sonya Jongsma
Knauss, editor of "Riverwest Currents" will discuss the
unique role that community journalism can play in creating
a shared vision for a neighborhood.

Global Day of Protest on the One Year Anniversary of the
Iraq War. Meet at the Sunburst sculpture on Wisconsin Ave.

4th ANNUAL RIVERWEST PUB CRAWL, 1PM until ?
Start anytime between 1PM and 5PM and then do the "crawl"
in any order on into the night.
Starting point is 2670 N. Holton St.: ticket sales, beer
samples, and a silent auction featuring local artwork,
brewing memorabilia, gift certificates, and more. $25
donation ($30 at the door) gets you a Pub Crawl 2004 Map
and beer samples at each of the participating taverns.
Over 20 Wisconsin breweries including: Lakefront, Onopa,
Sprecher, Milwaukee Ale House, Capital, Hops Haven,
Tyranena, Point, Pioneer, Augsburger, Oconomowoc, Harbor
City, New Glarus, Water Street, Grays, Essers, Rock
Bottom, and City Brewery.
Tickets are available for $25 until March 19 at the
following locations: Macs Red Eye (3865 N. Richards St.),
Dinos (808 E. Chambers St.), Circle A (932 E. Chambers
St.), Onopa Brewing Co. (735 E. Center St.), and The Gig
(1132 E. Wright St.).

ART BAR, Burleigh & Fratney
Riverwest's new Gallery/Lounge scene is open at
722 E. Burleigh. Every Sunday is "Open-Canvas" night where
a featured artist creates an original painting while your
friends watch. The "One Week Painting" will be on display
until the next Sunday, when another artist paints over your
paiting with a new image. A photo record will be displayed
at the end of the year showing all 52 works. This is a
great way to get exposure and the artist receives a $50 bar
tab during their "Open-Canvas" night. Reserve your Sunday
to create the "One Week Painting" by calling Don Krause at

Ah Spring! Ewww garbage and dog p**p! It's time to roll up
our sleeves and put the sparkle back in our neighborhood.
Assemble at the Holton Youth Center on Burleigh & Holton at
9AM. Marquette University students will be assisting again
this year. Bags & gloves will be provided. To volunteer or
help coordinate a clean-up on your block, call Jim Wilson
at the YMCA CDC at 263-1380 x12.
