BOSTON FAMILY REUNION:
The Boston Family celebrated their
family reunion in the 3300 block of
Palmer Street on August 11 and 12,
with lots of food, games and music.
Topping off the festivities was a
performance by the internationally
acclaimed Ko-Thi Dance Troupe.
D’Angelo Boston is a staff member
and an outstanding dancer of the
Troupe. People filled the entire street
when the drums began to beat, while the aroma of barbecue filled the air.
Faye Gladney offered minimassages to Garfield Blues Fest attendees.
GARFIELD JAZZ, GOSPEL & BLUES FEST: Musicians Olu Sijuwade and Nori Cox were
among the performers in the
first annual New Orleans-
Style Parade, kicking off
the Garfield Jazz, Gospel &
Blues Fest on Saturday, July
22. The parade began at the
Martin Luther King Statue on
King Drive, then proceded on
Garfield Avenue to Seventh
Street.
Nori Cox and Olu Sijuwade participated in the New-Orleans Style Parade that was part of the Garfield Blues Fest.
AMERICAN CANCER
SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE:
Dedicated to the memory
of Ruth A. Turner, the relay
was held at Pere Marquette
Park, July 21-22. The annual
fundraising event was sponsored
by Columbia St. Mary’s
Hospital, Covenant Health
Care, US Bank and Wisconsin
Education Association Council.
Diane and Marvin Pratt and Lisa Lemons and husband
Terence attended the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
