When Mary Bennett moved from Brewers Hill to Riverwest last year, she brought her own business with her. Bennett’s Party Wizards, incorporated as an LLC this year, provides bartending and wait staff service for private parties.
“I’ve always needed to have a mission,” says attorney Karen Moore. Moore, along with attorney Jake Herro, is co-founder of Riverwest Access to Justice, L.L.C., a law clinic. The mission is to provide “moderate income people with low price law services,” says Moore.
Look for Shiraz Persian Foods and Spices on Oakland Ave. between the Subway shop and Trattoria restaurant, but look carefully – if you blink you could miss it. Don’t let size fool you, though. The little store’s shelves are stocked with all the ingredients that cooks need to please a Persian’s palate or anyone’s taste that appreciates good curries, hummus, and aromatic teas.
“I’m totally entertained by the whole thing,” says Frank between chuckles. He’s talking about the Center Street Daze Annual Cart Race, which he’s emceed for the last five years. “I enjoy the ‘Born Losers’ who always lose.”
