On Thursday, November 3, Riverwest and UWM student activists congregated at Mayfair Mall in Wauwautosa and Brookfield Square in Brookfield to protest Victoria’s Secret’s outrageous catalog campaigns, which destroy old-growth trees.

23,000 vehicles per day drive along North Avenue near I-43. Another 137,000 zip by along the freeway itself. However, if the high number of vacant lots and buildings - especially between 5th and 7th Streets - are any indication, not many of those cars stop so that their drivers can shop.

People of all sorts wander through, ogling potential valuables from baseball cards and Star Wars figurines to vinyl records and bar taps.
Gary John Gresl, 62, knows many of these patrons of the Milwaukee Antique Center at 341 N. Milwaukee St., and greets them all with soft tones and a smile even though Wisconsin’s oldest antique mall is closing the doors for good Dec. 31.
