Here is what Governor Jim Doyle and Riverwest’s elected representatives who have endorsed David Riemer for County Executive had to say about him:

Governor Jim Doyle:“…[H]is determination to serve his community comes as no surprise to those who know him. David Riemer came into the administration during a very tough time, and he was a critical part of our efforts to balance the budget without raising taxes, protect critical health care programs, support education, and preserve basic services. He is a problem solver who really cares about people and the effect government has on their lives.”

County Supervisor Gerry Broderick: “Walker is a one-trick pony: cut taxes, cut taxes, cut taxes. That’s all it’s about. His policies are, in the long term, destabilizing the health of our county. David is imaginative, a big thinker. There’s no question that he is a very sincere and decent guy. I absolutely support him without question… I think he’ll make a great County Exec.”

Alderman Mike D’Amato:“[Riemer’s] priorities are in the right place. You need to help the less fortunate first, not last. This means funding mental health, homeless shelters, public transportation. He believes in the improvement of community by having wonderful public spaces. The reason we need him is the County is in disarray. I believe that five more years of Scott Walker will create a County that is starved to death – we will end up selling park land for development, privatizing public transportation, and shredding the public safety net.”

Alderwoman Marlene Johnson Odom:“I think he’s knowledgeable about the problems and that he has some solutions. The City of Milwaukee benefited from his input during the Norquist administration while he was there, and a lot of the reduction in the property tax was due to his input. He’s a very caring person: he cares about the city, diversity, and he knows a lot about city and county government and what it takes to really do what is necessary without eliminating necessities.”
